I made this one last night, and had a moment of inspiration to make another in stockinette - so here is the pattern for what I call the circular saw - The pattern has been adapted from the above and adds an extra edge of the main colour on each wedge, so that you can have an even number of wedges (usually you need 7!)
Materials: 2 balls worsted weight cotton yarn, size 4mm needles. The pictured cloth was made with 100% pure merino wool and I am currently in the process of felting it to see what it turns out like!
Instructions:
Cast on 18 stitches
Main colour wedges:
Row 1 and all odd rows: P across.
Row 2: K3, YO, K to last st, turn.
Row 4: K3, YO, K to last 2 sts, turn.
Row 6: K3, YO, K to last 3 sts, turn.
Row 8: Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K to last 4 sts, turn.
Row 10: K3, YO, K to last 5 sts, turn.
Row 12: K3, YO, K to last 6 sts, turn.
Row 14: Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K to last 7 sts, turn.
Row 16: K3, YO, K to last 8 sts, turn.
Row 18: K3, YO, K to last 9 sts, turn.
Row 20: Bind off 3 sts, K2, YO, K to last 10 sts, turn.
Row 22: K3, YO, K to last 11 sts, turn.
Row 24: K3, YO, K to last 12 sts, turn.
Row 26: Bind off 3 sts, K across row.
Contrast Colour Wedges:
Row 20: Bind off 3 sts, K across row.
Repeat this pattern 3 times, draw up at the centre and sew together the edges.
Result: A lovely round dish cloth with small “blade-like” edging.
