made | neat little pincushion wristlets

Funny how ideas change and transform into new and interesting things...

I was wearing one of my cute new little wristlets out op-shopping yesterday, when a woman came up to me and asked me if I was a professional seamstress. (I wish.) I must've looked at her blankly weirdly and she pointed to my wristlet, which she thought was a pincushion.

And right there and then, a most wonderful idea was born and blossomed into...

Did I ever tell you I was an addict?

Maybe I did, maybe I didn't... The truth is I am a craft addict and when I discover something I like doing, I do it until I get totally sick of the sight of it, that I stop. And stop means I don't pick it up for a few years. Anyway, that's a bit of a side issue...

I've discovered another new addiction, one not as big as the dishcloth one, but nearing it... ;)

I've discovered how neat it is to make pincushions... yes, I know that makes me weird and slightly unusual (I didn't use the word crazy, but you could... LOL).

Yesterday I went to the local op shop and discovered 3 little ramekins that were perfect for making pincushions and at 50c a piece I could hardly leave them there, could I?! :)

So I spent the afternoon making pincushions, while my 3 girls made coupons and cards for father's day.

I don't know what I'll do with so many pincushions... I now have too many to count. LOL!

Speaking of addictions, I have another confession. I LOVE teacup's and so you'll understand why my heart did a flip when I saw this little set at the same op shop I got the little ramekins from.

Isn't it gorgeous! I just love the delicate little pastel flowers. I couldn't leave it there and so I brought it home to join my little collection. :)

And look at this gorgeous bullion embroidery book I won on trademe! Take special care to look at the second picture. My heart about flipped out of my chest when I saw this pattern - it's a must make!!!

I trust everyone else is having a fantastic weekend and that the dad's out there (probably none read this blog) are having a great father's day! :)

new wrist pincushion

You might remember a couple of weeks ago when I made a couple of pincushions out of one of the recent get creative magazines. Well, on Monday night I got together with a friend hi Cathy to make another one. This time, in a moment of genius, I decided it would be great as a wrist pincushion. And after sewing a little felt to the bottom and adding one of my trusty old knitting needle bracelets, I had a simple but functional wrist pincushion.

Just a couple of things I've been up to...

I know I've been kinda quiet here on the blog, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy. :)

I have been knitting dishcloths. New designs and trying out different patterns from a book I bought a few weeks ago. I am loving using Motif pattern's for cloths! I have also made a square cloth using short rows. I may put that pattern up here later this week.

Today, Lianne and I went to Spotlight. There was a sale on and I'm a sucker for a sale. Unfortunately for me, the craft stuff wasn't discounted. :( I bought the april issue of "get creative", which had some very neat and easy pincushions in it. We made them in about 20 minutes! I got the fabric for mine from a really neat retro dress that I found earlier at "Mr. Bo Jumbles". Mr B. J. is a really awesome recycled clothing shop here in Manukau. You buy clothes and other items by the kilo!!! I have had some really spectacular finds there before. I especially go just for items I can craft with!

On the weekend I made Lianne this cute little bag. Inside I put a ball of cotton yarn and some 4mm needles. YES! I have now infected someone else with the dishcloth bug!!! LOL! On this topic, I am always amazed at how many people just don't want to use my dishcloths. They're too pretty, they say... hmmmm! Too Pretty? I personally LOVE to use pretty things on the jobs I most hate, like the dishes... Still, I cant convince them... Once you use one you'll never go back, I say... Even that doesn't work... I know I'll NEVER go back to the old chux cloth!!!
