KAL March - Easter Egg (Mary's Knitting and Crochet Corner)

Here's a sneak peak at what's keeping me occupied. I am making a knitted basket, it's an idea that's been floating in my head for a bit, and so now it's finally coming in to being! I'll keep you all posted, and when I have mastered it - I'll post the pattern for you to try too! I am loving double pointed needles - wish I'd mastered them earlier!

What I've been up to...

Yes, I've been a little quiet... I could say I've been busy, but I don't feel like I've been any busier than usual. I have, however been preparing for Bree's party tomorrow - reminds me, I need to go make the cake!

I was really happy with how all three turned out. The Elephant cloth will become part of Bree's themed pressie! :) I will definitely make the one from Monthly Dishcloths again - it's a really easy, great looking pattern, and a good way to use up the odd yarn remnants that remain after knitting cloths.

Today, I made a little something for my daughters birthday - I'll post a pic after her birthday (which is in less than a fortnight - eeek!) and played catch up with the knitalong dishcloths that I am doing. See below:

I have found knitting dishcloths when I am waiting for the girls to get out of school to be very cathartic, I no longer want them to hurry up. I am happy to wait! :)

I finally finished the kiwi dishcloth - unfortunately I can't remember where I got the pattern from and a quick google search hasn't helped me - hate that! I like to give credit where credit is due, so if you know where I got it from , let me know in the comments!

POST SCRIPT: Thanks to Edna, I've discovered where I got this pattern from... (Rachels Knitting Room). You have to be a member to have access to the pattern, so that explains why I couldn't find it on my search! :)

I like the cloth, it's a little larger than most of the cloths I've made before and at times I got tired of knitting it - but it's done now and it's good! I actually think I may have almost come to the end of my knitting dishcloths addiction - I'll still knit them, just not in such high doses! I say all that just as I embark on another knitalong run by the monthly dishcloth group...

Can you believe it? This is my hundredth post! I know a lot of people do giveaways and stuff on this auspicious occasion, but I was called into work today and I am exhausted! Maybe I will do something on the 150th post. Hold me to it - k?

Now onto a thing a day, that too has been canceled for today! We are only 8 days into the month and already I'm piking for the day - oh well! I'm just physically too tired to do much of anything!

I did however finish the monthly dishcloths kal - see below! I am stoked with how it turned out. It still needs to be blocked, but I couldn't wait to take the picture - so.... ;)

Today, I finished off a lovely pair of booties using Saartje's pattern. Saartje is from the Netherlands and has a really neat blog (don't worry it's written in english!).
The booties look very "Valentines Dayish" and are going to be a gift for my friend's daughter Kezia! I really like the look of the pattern, but it seems to me most of my friend's are having boy's and so I am not able to make them very often. :(

I am very pleased with how these little tote bags turned out. The tutorial was very easy to follow! I made 5 bags at once. I often find it easier to do more than one thing at a time, and it doesn't take much more time to do that.
It was my first time making a lined bag, and I am sure it won't be the last now I know how! I imagine a little appliqué would make the bag more interesting, although they look cool as they are, with a little surprise of colour in the lining. I used some old chambray fabric and cotton print fabric out of my stash, as it doesn't use a whole lot of fabric it's a great to use the old bits and pieces up. :)
One will go to Jaime-Lee (Bree's friend) and one to Ailish (Hope's friend) who are having birthday's this Saturday! The other three are going to be part of the girls Valentines Day presents. I must say , I am so stoked with how they turned out! My sewing skills have improved ten-fold since I started this blog just over a month ago!!!

I didn't have a whole lot of time to craft today. I was tired, and went shopping! I am working on doing a knitting chart for a dishcloth but that's taking an inordinate amount of time - I am sure that once I "get it" it will be a lot easier, but till I get there....

I did get to Spotlight and got some cheap yarn ($1.99 a ball - YAY!). So I figure I did do something crafty, even if it was shopping ;). While I was there I picked up some cool jewellery for the kids and also for two birthday parties coming up on Saturday! I have plans to make both birthday girls a tote bag and give them a necklace and bracelet set each! The other three bracelet sets are going to be for the girls for Valentines day! It's one less thing I have to make!!

Rachel's Knitting Room; First KAL

I am a newbie to KAL's (knit-alongs) and so I wasn't sure what to expect with it. I needn't have feared, it was a whole heap of fun and look at the result a new dishcloth!

I knitted the cloth in a bamboo/cotton variegated yarn that I got from Spotlight - it's so soft and lovely and would make a great facecloth!
